If Apple unveils a rival to internet-connected speakers from Amazon and Google, it wouldn't be the first time that Apple hops on the bandwagon of a technology product popularized by a competitor.
Actually, in all the conferences Apple mainly concentrates on the software side in their business, but now it gave a long list of hardware announcements. The company will add multiple new features with iOS 11.
Apple has unveiled a new redesigned App Store app for iOS 11. That said, rumor has it that Apple may also make a few surprise hardware announcements as well, including a new edgeless 10.5-inch iPad and a long-rumored Siri-based speaker created to go head to head with Amazon's Echo and Google Home. The speaker will respond to voice commands using Apple's voice assistant, Siri, and is closely integrated with Apple's Music services. There's plenty of incentive for developers to get behind the new gadget. A representative from Wingnut AR, a studio owned by "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson, also demoed a more elaborate AR battle onstage. Apple's WWDC 2017 keynote will take place today on June 5 at 10 am Pacific Standard Time, which is around 10.30 pm India Standard time. At those gatherings, the software giants sought to burnish their credentials in augmented reality and artificial intelligence. Its primary aim is to counter Google Home and Amazon Alexa. We are expecting Apple to launch a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and refreshed MacBooks later today at WWDC 2017; the event kicks off at 10 AM PT.
"AI will play a larger role with this release by leveraging enhanced capabilities around Siri", Brian White, a Drexel Hamilton analyst, wrote in a note to clients.
New MacBooksThis is where things get really exciting for consumers as this looks to be the first WWDC in years with hardware announcements from Apple. Apple claims that despite the increase in screen size the footprint of the iPad remains unchanged. What's more, Apple is said to be integrating the smart speaker within its iOS and MacOS ecosystem too, allowing Siri to stream music, control HomeKit-linked smart home devices, and answer basic questions.
"Apple has announced a 10.5" iPad Pro.
However, there are also chances that this new feature could be a re-branding of Apple's iCloud Drive. Apple did confirm earlier on in the year that new iMacs will be coming in 2017 and WWDC might be where. It is also being said that Apple Speaker would be listening anytime round the clock, thus being omnipresent in the home.
