The city has no plans yet for a watch party Friday for Game 4.
Barring a monumental collapse so great that it blots out all rational sports discourse for a decade, the Golden State Warriors are going to win the NBA Finals running away. They will attack the paint. Many speculated that Curry was hurting and the defensive pounding he received from the Cavs made it harder for him to play at his game. As now constructed, they're good enough to be the clear-cut second best team in the National Basketball Association.
However, the Warriors have their own motivation: perfection.
Over the years, Cavs-Warriors has become the NBA's best rivalry, and this year's lopsided Finals most likely won't help that. So they're able to keep Steph, Klay and Draymond and able to go out and sign someone else like they did this past summer by just getting rid of a couple pieces in Harrison Barnes and not re-signing Barbosa and Bogut and guys from last year's team.
Kevin Durant had 35 points, but no other Warrior had more than 20 points for the game. How will the Cavaliers respond to that?
They've put themselves in this position by dominating this series, and this postseason. Will the Cavaliers' players shoulders slump a little? The crowd at Quicken Loans Arena shuffled to the exits in disbelief. Will there be a sense of inevitability that overtakes them? Behind Lebron James and Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers seized the lead in the 3rd quarter. That achievement sort of became moot when they flopped and became the first team to cough up a 3-1 Finals lead. Cleveland scored 49 in the first quarter and 86 during a dizzying opening 24 minutes that left players and fans gasping for air.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Game 3 of the NBA Finals drew 20.5 million viewers on ABC, an increase of 22 percent from last season.
The Cavs came out aggressive in a must-win game against the Warriors to stay alive. "We brought in eight or nine guys, and we had to build something".
"My case, going to Miami, we had to clear a lot of space because they didn't have anybody as far as guys that they wanted to keep as far as Bird rights besides U.D".
"Just one of those games", Curry said.
Golden State has now covered the spread in six straight postseason games after rallying back for a 118-113 victory in Game 3 as a 3.5-point road favorite at Cleveland on Wednesday. "It's a long season and you'd hate for it to end this way", LeBron said. The one as the best team ever. That does not bode well. "Tomorrow's another important opportunity for us and for myself, obviously, to continue the series", said James, who had a game-high 39 points in the Game Three loss. He has earned it. Durant's 3-pointer with 45.3 seconds left gave Golden State the lead for good at 114-113.
It's a maturing process that Warriors coach Steve Kerr can see in Durant seeking the ball in clutch moments and blending his skills with his teammates rather than trying to force his style upon them. "I think I said it (after Game 3), it just looks like he understands this is his moment, this is his time". "I played against some great teams, but I don't think no team has had this type of firepower".
Is that vindication for his much-maligned decision to join the Warriors?
"If we win the championship, I'm like 99 percent sure we don't get him", Green said. He has had a series on the biggest stage that made people question who is the greatest player on the planet right now. "It definitely wasn't one of those things where it was a goal, where it's like, 'Let's go out and go to the playoffs and let's go 16-0.' That's too much".
