The 152-bed Rehabilitation Center of Hollywood Hills provides short-term rehabilitative services and long-term care, according to its website. There was a drill there previous year.
Through a representative, Carballo told the SunSentinel newspaper that the home has a backup generator but that it does not power the air conditioning.
"The National Weather Service's tracking in Hollywood put the temperature at 80 to 82 degrees overnight with a heat index of 85 to 90 after a Tuesday afternoon high temperature of 90 and a peak heat index of 99".
A woman went to check on her parents about 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills and shot a 34-second video of a fan running in their room with a window cracked on the second floor - the hottest level of the facility. The association added that it is working with state officials to identify homes without power so that utility companies could prioritize those in greatest need.
Then there are those who die from carbon monoxide poisoning because they run generators in enclosed garages or inside their homes.
But the temperature continued to rise, reaching unendurable levels.
Jean Johnson described her last visit to a friend, 84-year-old Betty Hibbard, who was later to die in the hospital.
Trump, standing alongside Scott and other Florida officials, said he knows that "at a certain point it ends for you and we can't let it end".

The city first "became [aware] a crisis was unfolding at the facility after multiple calls in the early morning hours" Wednesday, city spokesperson Raelin Storey said Thursday. Three had already died.
He said crews evacuated 115 patients from the center and are in the process of evacuating another 18 patients from a nearby behavioral facility next door.

The home's staff also seemed to have fallen short in communicating with residents' families. "You go, you check on them, you make sure they have water and food and that's it", he said. "I still can't believe the water that rushed through this island", she told ABC News.
