The Cardinals are looking for their first win in this series, but the games have all come down to the final possession. Though I'm obviously not a Louisville fan, I enjoy watching Jackson play the game and unlike some, I believe his abilities will transition well at the next level.
The Vols come into the game having shown balance in their first two contests, including a season-opening Georgia Tech.barburner versus Georgia Tech. But Clemson stands to lose plenty in this game and they can not afford any slip ups this week. The Panthers were able to do that against a good Penn State defense, so don't be surprised if they succeed against the Cowboys.
I'm not anxious about UofL's ability to put points on the board. The quarterback is back and maybe even better this time around. It was an outstanding defensive performance from the Tigers despite playing without safety Van Smith and cornerback Marcus Edmund, the latter of whom should be back for this game.
Give us the reigning Heisman to pull off another little bit of magic this week, go Cards! That's the method college football prefers, although it seems to not be the most representative of what's actually taking place one the field. That's enough for me. If they can do that, it'll take a ton of pressure off an offensive line that is perhaps the weakest position group on the team.
Colorado State (+28½) over ALABAMA: Expect Alabama's five-star freshman Tua Tagovailoa to see more reps under center, and plan to see the Crimson Tide's offense struggle - relatively - to stay in rhythm with two different quarterbacks. USC has more talent on its bench than those teams have combined. But that was also the case last season coming into Louisville's matchup with Clemson.
Zach Lentz is a Clemson University alumnus who got his start working with the Tigers basketball team from 1999-2004. If that is the case, there are several players in this game that very well could be targets for the Bears in next year's draft. Allen has been bad against Power 5 competition so it's hard to trust him to carry the Cowboys offense here.
The Cardinals have looked really impressive on the offensive side of the ball, scoring nearly at will the first two weeks.
If they fail, it'll once again be up to Bryant to carry a big burden in that offense, both through the air and on the ground.
Ohio State and MI are top-10 teams dealing with issues with quarterbacks J.T. Barrett and Wilton Speight, respectively, but both team face the challenge of defending Academy football this weekend against Army and Air Force. The Tigers were unable to manufacture any kind of running game against a good Auburn defense, and it remains to be seen if they can do so against Louisville. I'll take the Wildcats.
Kelly Bryant is a solid replacement for the departed Deshaun Watson and last week played well against a very good Auburn defense, completing19 of 29 passes for 181 yards and leading the team in rushing with 59 yards on 19 carries. Wisconsin is the pick here. Check out the top performers in the early season Heisman watch.
Last season, the Tigers turned the ball over five times - narrowly escaping with a 42-36 victory.
East Carolina has been terrible, one of the worst teams in the country.
Well, yes. But I still advise Corso to go for the red Cardinal bird head.
