Good morning! Here is the tech news you need to know this Friday.
Also, the Echo Spot comes with an integrated front camera which you can use to make free video calls. However, some functionalities were missing on the Echo Show; for example, Echo Show users can not subscribe to channels or see related videos. Google is among them-it launched its voice-activated Google Home smart speaker past year, and while it trails the Alexa-powered Echo in overall functionality, updates to the device have added features over time. Echo Spot can directly connect to speakers through Bluetooth or using a 3.5mm stereo cable, enabling you to add Alexa to your home entertainment system.
Reportedly codenamed "Manhattan", sources say the Google device will have a screen that measures in at around seven inches, just like the Echo Show.
Amazon also announced Echo Buttons (small, Bluetooth-based buzzers for use with games), the Echo Connect (a device for turning home phones into speakerphones) and a partnership to bring Alexa into some of BMW's vehicle portfolio. The HomePod, though, will cost $350, three times more than the next-generation Echo. Your Phone number will still be tied to calls so recipients can recognize you. The publication AFTVnews released leaked images of a new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV box that appeared to have increased Alexa capabilities, bolstering rumors that the streaming device was getting an update of its own. And Amazon cut the price of the device, which responds to voice commands via the company's Alexa digital assistant, to $100 from $180.
Recent rumours have suggested Google is on a similar track.
"Google has chosen to no longer make YouTube available on Echo Show, without explanation and without notification to customers". Though it might get released in 2018 as Google is now looking to partner with smart hub manufacturers like Best Buy Geek Squad and Enjoy for home installation.
