On a chilly Tuesday Night, November 3, the Lady Lions Soccer Team won their first game of the Sunshine State Conference tournament against Nova Southeastern University in the quarterfinal round match.
Statistically, the Lions held advantage in every category except for saves.
Chrissy Darwell (#4) scored in the first 69 seconds of the game, providing the only goal of the night and winning the game.
The Lion players came very close with getting another goal as 5 shots were shot in the first half of the game. Overall, they outshot Nova 12 to 3.
Fans were given free towels, cracker jacks, and peanuts by Student Government. During halftime, volleyball coach Sam Cibrone gave the crowd a good laugh as he came out dressed up in costume play fighting against the Saint Leo’s Lion mascot.
The top six teams, based on points earned in Sunshine State Conference games, advance to the championship. The top two seeds receive byes for quarterfinal round. The game on Friday, November 7 will leave the lady Lions with one more game in the 2010 season with last SSC tournament game against Rollins 4-1 in quarterfinals.
